Recovery Coaching with Quality Care Plus
How Can a Recovery Coach Help You?
A Recovery Coach is a professional who provides guidance and support to individuals living with mental health conditions that impact their daily lives. At Quality Care Plus, our goal is to help people regain their confidence, develop life skills, and work towards a more independent and fulfilling life.
We support individuals in managing daily tasks, making informed choices, and navigating their personal recovery journey. Our team also works closely with families, carers, and other services to ensure the best outcomes for our participants.
Understanding Psychosocial Disabilities
A psychosocial disability is a mental health condition that makes it difficult for a person to participate in everyday activities such as:
- Socializing and forming relationships
- Managing work, study, or responsibilities
- Communicating with others
- Taking care of personal needs
Some common mental health conditions that may lead to psychosocial disability include:
✔ Schizophrenia
✔ Bipolar Disorder
✔ Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
✔ Severe Depression and Anxiety
At Quality Care Plus, we provide specialized support to help individuals overcome these challenges and live a more meaningful life.
What Does Recovery Mean for You?
Recovery doesn’t mean a person is “cured” of their mental health challenges—it means they have the right support, skills, and confidence to live well despite them. Recovery is about taking control, making progress, and working towards personal goals.
With our support, participants can:
✅ Gain more independence in their daily routine
✅ Improve their decision-making skills
✅ Develop self-confidence and motivation
✅ Engage in social and community activities
✅ Build a support network of family, friends, and services
What We Do as Recovery Coaches
At Quality Care Plus, we help individuals with:
1.Building Life Skills – Supporting individuals to develop problem-solving skills, manage stress, and handle daily tasks.
2.Creating a Personal Recovery Plan – Outlining goals, strengths, and areas for growth, tailored to each person’s needs.
3.Navigating the NDIS and Other Support Services – Connecting participants to services that match their specific requirements.
4.Working with Families and Carers – Ensuring a supportive environment by involving loved ones in the recovery process.
5. Providing Continuous Support – Adjusting the recovery plan as needed to meet changing circumstances and challenges.
Who Can Become a Recovery Coach?
A Recovery Coach can have two types of experience:
1. Lived Experience – Someone who has personally experienced mental health challenges and understands recovery firsthand.
2.Professional Training & Expertise – A qualified individual with formal education in mental health and psychosocial disability.
To become a Recovery Coach, a person must have:
1.A Certificate IV in Mental Health or Peer Work, OR
2.At least two years of experience working in mental health support.
At Quality Care Plus, our team is made up of highly skilled and compassionate Recovery Coaches who bring both professional expertise and real-life understanding.
How Recovery Coaching Differs from Support Coordination
Both Recovery Coaches and Support Coordinators assist participants with managing NDIS supports, but Recovery Coaching offers more intensive, long-term guidance.
1. Recovery Coaches work more closely and consistently with participants, providing structured coaching over an extended period (e.g., 50 hours per year).
2.Support Coordinators focus primarily on connecting participants with services rather than personal coaching.
At Quality Care Plus, we provide both services so participants can get the right support for their individual needs.
What is a Recovery Plan and Why is it Important?
A Recovery Plan is a personalized guide that helps individuals:
✔ Identify short-term and long-term goals
✔ Recognize strengths and challenges
✔ Understand where they have control over decisions
✔ Find the right support services and resources
✔ Plan for unexpected changes in mental health needs
✔ Coordinate NDIS and mental health services effectively
This plan serves as a roadmap for personal growth and stability, ensuring participants stay on track with their recovery journey.
How is Recovery Coaching Funded Through NDIS?
Recovery Coaching is funded under the Support Coordination category in the NDIS Price Guide. The funding amount depends on the participant’s NDIS plan and the level of support they require.
At Quality Care Plus, we are a registered NDIS provider, ensuring that our services are accessible, professional, and tailored to meet individual needs.
